Bio Career Xcelerator (BCX) is a multidisciplinary workforce development program that bridges the gap between college and career. Traditional university courses leave critical industry skills behind. We fill that void. By bringing together undergraduates from STEM, marketing, business, and other disciplines, BCX delivers immersive training that equips emerging talent with the technical and professional skills required for entry-level roles in biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, and healthcare.
It starts with real-world learning driven by industry leaders: Volunteer scientists, HR executives, marketing specialists and community based career prep experts lend their time, tools, and expertise to guide participants through hands-on experience, at zero out-of-pocket cost to participants. Each year, BCX serves approximately 100 students across California’s leading biotech hubs, including roughly 85% STEM majors alongside non-STEM peers. Priority goes to individuals who demonstrate a clear need for career preparation, professional networks, and industry access.
Our support extends far beyond the classroom. Through our summer training and annual BCX Career Fair, we create direct connections between emerging talent and professionals across biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, healthcare, and the broader community. The Career Fair is open to undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty, creating opportunities to meet employers and community partners and explore career pathways, internships, and professional connections. By bringing together participants from multiple campuses across Southern and Northern California, BCX creates a lasting professional network built on collaboration. Our partners continue that momentum long after summer training ends, offering BCX alumni internships, entry-level positions, referrals, mentorship, and strong recommendations.
